Praise His Name, YAHWEH!

Isaiah 42.8

 I am YAHWEH.
That is my name
And My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to graven images.

The personal name of God, YAHWEH, is worthy of our praise. Scripture contains many references to this concept. It’s only fitting that the One we trust in as God above all should be praised and honored and worshipped. But even more importantly, it’s most appropriate to give Him the honor that’s due to Him alone by using His specific and personal name.
This is confirmed by The Scriptures themselves. Below are some of the many Scripture verses that direct His people to praise and bless His holy and precious name. They reveal, when properly translated, that His name is YAHWEH, and that is the name we are to use when honoring and worshipping Him.
For more detail on the issues involved with using the name of God and the name of The Messiah please see the following links. Within them are additional links to help outline what’s happened and what we need to do to correct the problems. They will provide the background you need to understand why many who call themselves Christians currently do not even know His personal and eternal name.

The Personal Name of The Messiah
God’s personal name occurs for the first time in Genesis 2.4. While it is not given as such in most translations of The Scriptures, it is found in the Hebrew text at this point. It occurs in the Hebrew text 6520 times in the Old Testament. Such frequent occurrence suggests it’s not something God wants us to be ignorant about.
In Exodus 3.15 He specifically identifies this name as His eternal name, and as His “memorial” to all generations (past, present, and future). A memorial is given as a means of remembering. His people are called to remember His name, and to give praise, honor, blessing, thanksgiving, and honor to it – for all eternity. Here’s what Exodus 3.15 actually should say in your Bible:

Exodus 3.15 And God furthermore said to Moses, Thus shall you say to the children of Israel, YAHWEH (Hebrew – hDwøh◊y - YHWH), God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me unto you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.

The Word of YAHWEH Concerning His Name

Listed below are some of the Scripture verses that speak to how we are to treat the personal name of God, YAHWEH. These verses have been corrected to give the proper reading, based on the Hebrew text. When you see His name placed where it properly belongs it gives you a whole different appreciation of both His name, and His Word. His Word is without error. Unfortunately, mankind has adulterated His Word, causing confusion, and making it difficult to worship Him in spirit and in truth.
May these verses serve to motivate you to begin today to use His personal name as it should be used – to honor and worship Him as The Eternally Existing One; for that is indeed what His name actually means.

The Messiah Speaks, On His Name and God’s Name

There are some who claim YAHUSHUA (Jesus) never spoke God’s personal name and never taught anything about it. The Scriptures below will demonstrate this is simply not true. Indeed, there is evidence to support the idea that it was specifically because He did speak the name, YAHWEH (and teach and heal using it), that He was put to death.

John 12:28 Father, glorify Your name. Then came there a voice from The Heaven, “I have indeed glorified it, and will glorify it again.”

Matt. 6:9 Accordingly, pray in this manner: Our Father who is in The Heaven, may Your name be consecrated

John 17:6 I have explained Your name to the men which You gave Me from out of the world. They were Yours, and You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word.

John 17:12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your name. Those that You gave Me I have kept, and none of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.

John 17:26 And I have declared unto them Your name, and will declare it, that the love wherewith You have loved Me may be in them, and I in them.

Matt. 10:22 And you shall be detested by all for My name’s sake: but he that endures to the end shall be saved.

Matt. 19:29 And every one that has forsaken houses, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive an hundred times more, and shall inherit eternal life.

Matt. 24:9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and you shall be detested by all nations for My name’s sake

John 15:21 But all these things will they do to you for My name’s sake, because they know not Him that sent Me.

Matt. 18:5 And whoever shall receive one such little child in My name receives Me.

Matt. 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, there am I in the midst of them.

Mark 9:41 For whoever will give you a cup of water to drink in My name, because you are The Messiah’s, most assuredly I tell you, he will in no way lose his reward.

John 14:13 And whatever you shall ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you shall ask any thing in My name, I will do it.

John 14:26 But the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatever I have said to you.

To Those Who Treat His Name Shamefully

There are consequences for failing to honor the name of God and the name of The Messiah. Many today seem to have no fear of them. They do not even know His name, so cannot really honor it or perform any of those things He calls us to do in His name. This really needs to be changed.
YAHWEH has done much to reveal His name to His people. He has called for His name to be proclaimed, taught, honored, praised, blessed, and revered above every other name that exists. Do we not owe Him such? Is it not proper for us to know His name and to use it with great reverence every day? Failure to do so will indeed bring its consequences.

Is. 52:5 Now therefore, what have I here, says YAHWEH, that My people is taken away for nothing? They that rule over them make them to wail, says YAHWEH; and My name is scorned continually every day. 6 Therefore My people shall know My name therefore in that day, that I am He who speaks. Behold, it is I Myself.

Mal. 1:11 For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same My name shall be great among the foreign nations, and in every place incense shall be offered unto My name, and a pure offering. For My name shall be great among the foreign nations, says YAHWEH of Assemblies. 12 But you have profaned it, in that you say the table of YAHWEH is polluted, and the fruit thereof, even His meat, is contemptible. 13 You said also, Behold, what a weariness it is! And you have blown smoke at it, says YAHWEH of Assemblies; 14 But cursed is the deceiver, which has in his flock a male, and vows, and sacrifices unto YAHWEH a corrupt thing: for I am a great King, says YAHWEH of Assemblies, and My name is dreadful among the foreign nations.

Ezek. 20:9 But I worked for My name’s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations among whom they were, in whose sight I made Myself known to them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.

Ezek. 36:21 But I had pity for My holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the foreign nations they came into. 22 Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says The Sovereign, YAHWEH. I do not act for your sakes, house of Israel, but for My holy name’s sake, which you have profaned among the foreign nations you came into. 23 And I will consecrate my great name, which was profaned among the foreign nations; which you have profaned in the midst of them. And the foreign nations shall know that I am YAHWEH, says The Sovereign, YAHWEH, when I shall be consecrated in you before their eyes.

Mal. 2:1 And now, priests, this commandment is for you. 2 If you will not hear, and if you will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto My name, says YAHWEH of Assemblies, I will send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings; indeed, I have cursed them already because ye do not lay it to heart. 3 Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, the dung of your solemn feasts, and shall take you away with it. 4 And you shall know that I have sent this commandment to you, that My covenant might be with Levi, says YAHWEH of Assemblies. 5 My covenant was with him of life and peace, and I gave them to him for the fear wherewith he feared Me, and was afraid before My name. 6 The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips. He walked with Me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity. 7 For the priest’s lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of YAHWEH of Assemblies. 8 But you have departed out of the way; you have caused many to stumble at the law; you have corrupted the covenant of Levi, says YAHWEH of Assemblies.

Psa. 83:16 Fill their faces with reproach that they may search out Your name, YAHWEH.

Some Blessings To Those Who Honor His Name

Jer. 12:16 And it shall come to pass, if they will diligently teach the ways to My people, to swear by My name, by the life of YAHWEH; as they taught My people to swear by Baal; then I shall be built up in the midst of My people. 17 But if they will not obey, I will utterly pluck up and destroy that nation, says YAHWEH.

Psa. 9:9 YAHWEH also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. 10 And they will trust in You, knowing, Your name; for You, YAHWEH, have not forsaken those that seek You.

Psa. 54:1 Save me, O God, by Your name, and direct me by Your power.

Psa. 74:21 Let not the oppressed return ashamed: let the depressed and destitute praise Your name.

Psa. 5:11 But let all those that take refuge in You rejoice. Let them shout for joy forever because You protect them. And let them that love Your name be jubilant in You. 12 For You, YAHWEH will bless the just one; with favor You will surround him as a shield.

Rev. 2:13 I know your works, and where you dwell, where Satan’s seat is: and you hold fast My name, and have not denied My faith.

Rev. 3:8 I know your works: behold, I have set before you an open door, and no man can shut it: for you have a little strength, and have kept My word, and have not denied My name.

Ezek. 20:44 And you shall know that I am YAHWEH, when I have dealt with you for My name’s sake; not according to your evil ways, nor according to your corrupt acts, house of Israel, says The Sovereign, YAHWEH.

Rev. 15:4 Who shall not fear You, YAHWEH, and glorify Your name? For only You are holy. For all nations shall come and worship before You, for Your judgments are revealed.
